E044 - Metal Gear Solid

We welcome everyone to this week's episode. We hope everyone is staying safe during this time. Please join us as we escape for an hour or so to talk about one of the best games to come out on the OG Playstation (PS1) and defined an entire genre. Today we review Metal Gear Solid.

Technically the third game in the series, hear about our playthrough, what we thought about this classic, and some of the wild story lines that come with it. From sneaking abound in a cardboard box, to entering different environments to beat the game, to looking at the back of the game case to get the radio frequency, and who can forget the fight with Psycho Mantis.

Join us in two weeks for our review of Super Metriod for the Super Nintendo. Be sure to submit your questions and comments for this game now to make it to air in time for the show. In the meantime, we will release more Social Distancing Bonus Episodes for your listening pleasure. If you have a topic to discuss, hit us up. Check out hamandspam.com for links to our social media.

Be sure to subscribe to the show on your preferred podcast provider so you'll never miss an episode, leave us a rating to help others find our awesomeness, and a review to bolster our ego.

Hello all!! In the wake of what is going on in the world, we have decided to put together a few episodes in a bonus episode format to give you guys more to listen to while we are "social distancing".

Continuing our Social Distancing bonus episodes, our buddy Alex (T-Bone) hangs out with us, at a minimum of 6 feet away mind you, to do a movie review watch-a-long style. Today we are watching a movie that is so 80's, so cheesy, so outlandishly bad, that it's good. Today we are watching Gymkata. This movie is available through Amazon Movies (non Prime) as well as other renting services and is well worth the cheesy watch.

Let us know your thoughts of this movie or submit another "so bad, it's good" movie for us to watch during this pandemic bu going to  Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram (links at hamandspam.com).

Have a topic you would like for us to discuss in this bonus episode format? Let us know using #AskUsAnything and #hamandspam

We hope you enjoy the show and please stay safe!!!

The second half of our review of Sonic 3 and Knuckles brings us to Sonic and Knuckles. This game by itself was just pretty good but when it's "locked-on" with Sonic 3 it becomes the superior of all Sonic games. Hear about Super Sonic and Knuckles, Hyper Sonic and Knuckles, the true ending, and additional content when you lock other Sega and Sonic games onto the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge.

Bonus episodes are on the way for you enjoyment! Look for them later this week!

For our love of the original Donkey Kong County, we couldn't wait to review Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Many consider this to the be best in the series because it took everything from the first installment and made it better: Two fast main characters. A buddy system. More difficult levels. Completing bonus areas matter. Gameplay as the animal characters instead of riding them. Temporary invincibility.

The original DKC is still the top notch for us as far as the series goes but this does make a good case for being the superior game.

Check out our YouTube for a playthrough of this and all of our games and let us know what you think in the comments.

*****Due to scheduling conflicts and Hammy being under the weather, this episode was recorded with the help of Caitlin whom has never played the game. WE DID NOT DO THIS GAME JUSTICE and for that, we apologize, but did not want to wait a full three weeks for a release. When Hammy gets better, we will give this game a proper review perhaps in a bonus episode release. Thank you all for your understanding!*****

E037 - Super Mario Bros. 2

In honor of the Christmas season, we review the most Christmas of Christmas movies, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Not only do you get the Ham and Spam review of the movie, but you also get commentary from special guest Justin Williams.

For those that don't know, Justin is the composer to our intro but also a life long friend. We have gotten together to watch this movie over the Christmas holidays for over the past decade plus. Many times it is the only time we all see each other for the year, so it really does mean much more than the one liners and quotable scenes.

Join us as we review this movie together. By that I mean we talk over the movie and tell stories. Either way, we'll have a good time.

Join us next week when we FINALLY review the NCAA Football series just in time for bowl season and tell all the crazy Clint stories that go with this title.
